What actually drives detailing cost.
Three things move the price, and understanding them helps you avoid being overcharged:
1. Vehicle size
A small coupe has a fraction of the surface area and interior volume of a three-row SUV or a pickup. More space = more time = higher cost. That's why the same package ranges from $55 (small car) up to $195 (pickup, full detail).
2. Package level
Basic is a wash + vacuum to keep a clean car clean. Premium adds interior wipe-down, wheels, door jambs and spray wax. Exclusive is the full reset — ceramic sealant, pet-hair removal, deep stain and mud cleanup included.
3. Condition of the car
Heavy pet hair, ground-in stains, and caked-on winter salt take real extra time. A car that's just dusty costs less than one that hasn't been cleaned in a year. Honest detailers price by condition — that's why a quote is an estimate until they see it.
